What's This Blog About?

The Lonely Young Writer is a blog with advice, resources, and most importantly, moral support for young writers.

Why "The Lonely Young Writer"?

I define "young" as anywhere between high school and undergraduate college.  But the truth of the matter is that inside of every writer is a lonely young writer--someone who craves advice and approval, and definitely someone who craves a sense of community.  The goal of this blog is to meet some of those needs, and to let all writers know that while writing is a lonely art, it doesn't have to be.

I chose the title of this blog based on my own memories of being a young writer.  It did seem very lonely at the time.  I was an awkward teenager, and while I realize not all young people who write are awkward, as an adult, I have interacted with many who do feel that way. I admit that much of this blog stems from my personal experience, and your results may vary.

Nevertheless, I truly hope that my blog will be helpful to you on your writing journey.

So who is A.L.S. Vossler?

Cecilia uses me as her personal cat tree.
I live in the American Midwest with my awesome husband, two rambunctious cats, one mild-mannered betta fish, and my lifetime collection of two hundred fifty-seven My Little Ponies.

In 2009, I received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Concordia University Chicago.  My published works include short stories, creative non-fiction, poetry, book reviews, movie reviews, and several news articles. I have been writing, off and on, since I was fourteen years old, and I hope to have my first novel published in 2017.

In addition to The Lonely Young Writer, I also run Literature. Life., where I write about life, literature, speculative fiction, writing, and the publishing industry, among other things.

Did I mention that I love cats?
